A BRIEF HISTORY
Born in Venice in 1982, Luca Maria Dona' approaches the world of glass after high school. Always a lover of art, it was easy for him to become passionate about this material, which, living in Murano, the island immediately made available to him.
The intensity and purity of the colors, and the enigmatic nature of the glass were a strong attraction, and once he had achieved sufficient mastery, in 2007 he opened his first workshop in Murano providing various shops in the city.
In 2016 he decided to offer his creations directly to a private public: this is how "Luca Maria Dona' Lampwork Studio" was born, an artisan workshop and shop in a single area, following the tradition of the Venetian "bottega". Initially located in Venice, a stone's throw from Piazza San Marco, the Studio now resides in Murano in Fondamenta Daniele Manin 69/A since 2017.
In recent years, thanks to its own customers, it has been able to develop and cultivate a stylistically personal production, characterized both by the traditional lampwork techniques , and by a personal use of blown glass, strictly using only the soda-lime glass produced on the island.
"The term we use for glass "vetro"probably derives from the Latin" vid trum "(which shows) ...obviously it derives from the transparency that glass has by nature, which lets you see the things beyond it, which lets the light through ... we Venetians use the term "vero ", which in addition to the material itself, we use with the meaning of "true" .... but this combination of meanings has always fascinated me ... because after all what I do is use glass as a medium to stage my truth, my way of seeing objects and things, indulging the most sincere feelings.
